The Massena Rescue Squad was started in April 1960, after a tragic boating
accident that killed two men. Our first ambulance looked
more like a hearse (picture), and back then, medical care pretty much limited
to driving real fast to the hospital.
The unit has grown to include an extrication
team, boat rescue, and dive rescue. We cover both the village and town of
Massena, and the town of Louisville, and we also provide assistance to other
rescue squads in our area. We are currently an Advanced Care service, with
paramedic level care available.
