About Us
Massena Rescue Squad, also
known as the Massena Volunteer Emergency Unit, is the emergency
ambulance service for Massena, NY. We cover the town and
village of Massena and Louisville, and we also provide assistance
to other rescue squads in the area. We answer 911 emergency calls
requiring medical assistance. This is every call from the car
accident to folks who just aren't feeling right. We are trained
to handle medical emergencies and have members who are trained in
specialized procedures like extrication or dive rescue.
Every wonder who joins a rescue squad? Our
members are a varied group. We work as corrections officers,
mechanics, security
officers, college administrators, housewives, retail salepersons, and
just about everything else in between. We are artists, cooks,
softball players, photographers, and musicians. The only thing we
have in common is our commitment to helping our friends and neighbors
on their time of need. We volunteer our time to
provide Massena with emergency services. This not only includes the
ambulance calls we handle, but it also includes the time needed for the initial
training, and the continuing training that we complete every year.
Massena
Rescue is an Advanced Level unit. This means that we
have providers up to the paramedic level of care. This allows
us to do more than just drive you to the hospital. We have heart
monitors, diabetic monitors, and some medications that can help you to
feel better faster. Our job is to get you medical care quickly,
to get you healthy quickly.
